My hobbies change with the seasons. Spring and Summer consist of softball and fishing, Fall = Hunting and I spend winter sitting on a bucket staring at a hole in the ice waiting for fish to bite. Perhaps my favorite hobby of all, consistent through all seasons, is spending time with my wife and three kids.

I love being part of meaningful projects. Helping an individual or community solve a problem through creative design. It doesn’t matter how big or small the project is, if I think my skills and experience can be of help to someone, I’m in. Our recent work on public facilities has ranged from a 100,000 SF combination fire station and police station to a 7000 SF volunteer rural fire station. Each one brings the same feeling of gratification knowing we had a hand in something that made someone else’s world a bit better.

I am always amazed and inspired by how each architectural project is a new journey. An opportunity to explore, discover, and define the unique needs and qualities necessary to make a particular project successful. Each project is unique, each client is unique and each solution is a new adventure to share with our client and team of dedicated professionals.
I believe architecture has a responsibility to add to the fabric of its community. Certainly, this means providing an aesthetically pleasing solution, but I believe it needs to be more. Great architecture needs to reflect the character of its environment and find the perfect balance between the built environment and the natural landscape.

From an early age, I was drawn to the creative process of taking an idea, developing a plan, and creating “something from nothing”. Early on, my creative endeavors revolved around art; from ceramics and painting to jewelry and woodworking. Now, those creative endeavors are much larger in scale and complexity through architectural design, however my love for the creative process holds true.
Certainly, my interest in design and creativity guided me to pursue a career in architecture. I earned my Master’s degree in Architecture from Montana State University. With over a decade of architectural experience, I continue to enjoy the creative challenges presented by each project as well as working with amazing clients, consultants and colleagues.
